Host Your Event at the Historic Liriodendron

Once you select a potential date, please complete the inquiry form and our staff will be in touch to confirm availability and help you plan your event. Once you have spoken with our staff and reserved a date, we will hold the date for up to 10 days while you sign our event contract and pay the required deposit. 

Our venue seats 120 people for sit-down dining OR 150 people for a cocktail-style event.

We do not have a caterer on-site. However, we partner with an extensive list of reputable full-service caterers approved to work at our venue for you to select from. All these vendors are licensed and insured and offer a variety of different cuisine options and price points. If you have specific dietary restrictions or cultural requirements, we will work with you and your requested caterer to ensure that all of our standards can be met. All caterers must provide full service and have bartenders with Alcohol Awareness Training and TIPS Certification. Your caterer is responsible for all setup and breakdown of the tables and chairs and must be onsite the entire contracted time of the event.

We want you and your guests to enjoy themselves while celebrating your nuptials, however, we must take certain precautions to ensure responsible alcohol consumption. You and your caterer will coordinate who is providing the alcohol. All alcohol MUST be served by an approved caterer. These caterers are full service and staff bartenders with Alcohol Awareness Training and TIPS Certification. Your caterer must be onsite the entire contracted time of the event and is responsible for serving all alcoholic beverages. No one is permitted to self-serve any alcoholic beverages and the Liriodendron has a “no shot” policy. All individuals must comply with guidelines and laws defined by Maryland State and Harford County Liquor Board. Serving of alcohol to underage persons is strictly prohibited.

We allow events to be held until midnight with an hour of cleanup until 1:00 AM. By that time all guests should have left, and the caterer should have finished their clean up. Outside music must stop at 10:00 PM and must face west towards the wooded area. Please note that if your event (including cleanup) extends past midnight, your Certificate of Insurance must include both the day of your event and the following date.

The Liriodendron Foundation will have a staff member on site for your event. This staff member will manage the house and grounds, and will be available to answer questions for you and your vendors throughout the event. Our staff member is not a day-of-event coordinator.

The Liriodendron is located on public parkland. Heavenly Waters Park is open from sunrise to sunset, but our grounds are closed to visitors during your event. Signage will be placed at the driveway entrances to inform the public that the Liriodendron is closed for a private event, and our staff will monitor the grounds to ensure that no park visitors intrude on your event.

There is limited parking available in the upper parking lot next to the house. Additional signs for handicapped parking can be installed on this level upon request. The remainder of the guests must utilize the large lower parking lot, where we have ample parking for more than 200 cars. We provide a fully enclosed shuttle bus to transport your guests as part of most of our rental packages. No parking is permitted on any grass areas including areas next to the driveway, or on the parking lot islands. Any damage to lawn areas caused by unauthorized parking is the responsibility of the renter.

No nails, staples, screws, glue or tape shall be used to attach decorations inside or outside; zip ties are permitted. No confetti, bird seed, rice, flower petals or grass seed may be thrown or distributed in any way. Artificial flower petals inside the Mansion may be scattered, provided complete cleanup is provided. No moving of house furniture or carpets is permitted. Use of our fireplaces is permitted with advance permission, and a fee will apply. All your vendors must have the proper insurance, but the most important people (you) need to be covered as well! Our minimum requirement is a $1,000,000 liability with host liquor liability included, regardless of whether alcohol is being served. Your insurance company/broker can issue the Certificate of Insurance and usually does so for a nominal fee. Please speak with our staff for more guidance on insurance.
