The Liriodendron holds a free Open House each Wednesday from 1 to 6 pm and on the Second Sunday of each month from 11 am to 3 pm. There is no fee for admission and no reservations are required. The Liriodendron is also open during concerts, programs, and special events. If you are unable to visit during our regular open hours, you may contact us to schedule a private tour. Yes! Our grounds are open daily from sunup to sundown unless we are hosting a ticketed event or private rental. Visitors may wander the grounds, take photos, learn about the Liriodendron and local history, and enjoy the beauty of the Liriodendron’s surroundings. Group activities such as photo shoots, exercise classes, family gatherings, or club meetings require advance scheduling and a fee.

Yes! You are free to bring your dog with you when you visit the grounds, but only service animals are allowed inside the Mansion. We ask that you keep your pet on a leash and pick up after them so that others may enjoy the grounds as well. Garbage cans are located in the lower parking lot next to the Ma and Pa Trail entrance.

Yes! You are free to take personal photos – both inside and out – when you visit the Liriodendron. We love to see your photos and would be happy for you to tag us on social media!

Professional photographers are asked to check our schedule at https://liriodendron.com/contact-pp/ before booking a photo shoot with a client. As we may have last-minute events scheduled, please also contact us the week before your scheduled shoot to confirm availability. Please note that we do not allow professional photography during Open House hours or other events, as this interferes with our guests’ ability to enjoy their visit. While our grounds are free to use for photo shoots, donations are encouraged to help pay for our staff time and grounds maintenance. Donations can be made at https://liriodendron.com/donate/

The Liriodendron has a wide variety of events and experiences to offer our visitors of all ages and backgrounds. Whether you are an art lover, architecture buff, historian, nature enthusiast, music fan, or are just looking for something new and different to do, you will find something of interest at this historic venue!

Our interactive Museum provides a chance to learn about the life and legacy of Dr. Howard A. Kelly and the Kelly family, the story of the Liriodendron, and their connections to local, state, and national history. And kids will enjoy exploring what life might have been like at the Liriodendron through our treasure hunt.

Our Gallery showcases exhibits featuring works by local and regional artists, and educational displays on a variety of issues. And our Ice House provides visitors with a look at the lives of prehistoric native Marylanders.

The Liriodendron is host to a variety of free and low-cost concerts, presentations, historical reenactors, plein air paint-ins, artist gatherings, guided nature walks, and special holiday Open House events.

Our lush and extensive grounds are a great place to take a walk, for kids to play, to explore nature, learn about the Liriodendron and local history, or to find artistic inspiration!

The beautiful grounds, stunning architecture, and rich history of the Liriodendron make it a great place to visit again and again!

The Liriodendron is easily accessible from I95, and Maryland Rt. 24, Rt. 22,  & Rt. 1. The Liriodendron is minutes from Harford Mall and Harford Community College, and is within easy walking distance from downtown Bel Air. The Liriodendron has two parking lots. The smaller upper lot is directly adjacent to the Mansion and includes several marked disabled parking spots. The lower lot – accessed from West Broadway – provides ample parking and an entrance to the Ma and Pa Trail, but requires climbing stairs or walking up a steep hill to access the Mansion. 

The upper lot is first-come, first-served for Open House and other non-ticketed events. During ticketed events, we reserve most of the upper lot for those requiring disabled parking and ask that all others park in our lower lot. Whenever possible, we provide transportation in a fully-enclosed shuttle bus from the lower lot to the Mansion during public events. 

The first floor, terrace, porticos, and parts of the grounds of the Liriodendron are wheelchair accessible. However, due to the historic nature of the building, the 2nd floor – where the art gallery is housed – is only accessible by stairs. In addition, parts of the grounds are hilly, rocky, or have tree roots, and so may not be fully accessible.

Our permanent Museum and all concerts and other community events are wheelchair accessible. We provide large-print versions of our Museum panels, and other accommodations for visitors and renters. For additional information, please contact us at 410-879-4424 or info@liriodendron.com 

The non-profit Liriodendron Foundation is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations and upkeep of the historic Liriodendron. We rely on rental revenue and the generous support of our donors to help provide free and low-cost programming and exhibits, preserve and maintain the buildings and grounds, and ensure that the Liriodendron remains a beautiful and welcoming place to visit for all. Sometimes. We welcome the donation of items directly connected to the history of the Liriodendron and/or the Kelly family. However, as we have limited storage space, we generally cannot take artwork, photographs, furniture, textiles, or other items that are not specifically related to the Liriodendron or the Kelly family.
