An Evening With Florence Nightingale: A Reluctant Celebrity

Join the witty and wise Miss Florence Nightingale as she shows you a new way to think about healthcare – from the way you thought it was, to the way it may become. This character portrayal by award-winning actor and author Dr. Candy Campbell provides a delightful presentation of thought-provoking fun and poignant exploration of our current state of health, based on Nightingale’s writings.

This performance – presented in cooperation with Harford Community College – will take place at HCC’s Chesapeake Theater on Wednesday, October 19 at 7 pm. General admission is $5. HCC students admitted free.

Visit HarfordEvents.com or call 443-412-2211 for tickets.

For over 20 years, The Eric Byrd Trio – pianist/vocalist Eric Byrd, bassist Bhagwan Khalsa, and drummer Alphonso Young, Jr. – have traveled the world as enthusiastic ambassadors of jazz. Rooted in swing and be-bop, The Trio also embraces gospel and the blues as core elements of their expansive performance style. Their body of work spans seven unique studio and live recordings on which they shine as a Trio and as collaborators with an expanded 8-piece ensemble they call The Eric Byrd Trio: Brother Ray Band, in tribute to The Genius of Soul icon Ray Charles. Music at the Mansion Presents DuPont Brass

e’re excited to welcome DuPont Brass to the Music at the Mansion stage on Sunday, August 14 from 5 to 7 pm.

DuPont Brass is a unique, soulful, brass ensemble hailing from the D.C. Metropolitan Area. Originally composed of five music majors from Howard University trying to raise money for tuition during the Christmas season, they have now grown to an 9-piece ensemble consisting of brass, a rhythm section, and vocalists.

Gaining popularity from playing at local Metro stations, DuPont Brass started out professionally playing for weddings, banquets, and other private events in the surrounding area. Thanks to the foundation laid in their earlier years, DuPont Brass has had the opportunity to perform in conjunction with the D.C. Jazz Festival, The Washington Performing Arts Society, and on the prestigious Kennedy Center Millennium Stage.

Through their training in both classical and contemporary styles, the rising supergroup has developed a sound that mixes varied genres of music, including jazz, hip-hop, and R&B. In their latest effort, Music Education, DuPont Brass shows us why they are qualified to excel in both the education and performance arenas of the music industry. Filled with a diverse arsenal of musical styles, they present a body of work made with every kind of listener in mind.

Music at the Mansion Presents Josh Christina

Music at the Mansion Presents Josh Christina

Audience favorite Josh Christina returns to the Liriodendron Mansion to kick off our 2022 Music at the Mansion season for a special Father’s Day outdoor concert on Sunday, June 19 from 5 to 7 pm.

Think of a mix between Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis Presley and Elton John and you’ve got Josh Christina.

If you’re a fan of piano driven rock n’ roll, Josh Christina will restore your confidence in the ability of young musicians to carry on the great tradition of rock’s pioneers. Josh writes his own music, refurbishes the classics, and plays a mean piano.  His live show – a mix of everything from Jerry Lee Lewis to Elton John with some originals woven in – appeals to all generations. Josh Christina is a rock n roll revivalist whose music provides a bridge across generational lines by going backward to move into the future.
