Also showcased in the exhibit is artwork and architectural drawings of Poldi Hirsch (1926-1987), a Havre de Grace resident and the first woman of the Baltimore Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) who owned her own firm. Over 25 modern structures still stand in Harford County as a testament to her professional perseverance and pioneering legacy.
A special online presentation will be given on Wednesday, August 12, at 7:00 pm by the curator of the exhibit, Jillian Storms, AIA. Ms Storms received BAF’s Roger Redden Award and Preservation Maryland’s George T. Harrison Volunteer Award in recognition of her extensive work in organizing the research effort and curating the traveling exhibit. She has a Master of Architecture from the University of Oregon and a Bachelor of Urban Studies and Planning from Goucher College.

The travelling exhibit was sponsored by the Baltimore Architecture Foundation (BAF) and developed by members of the Women in Architecture (now EQUITY) Committee of AIA Baltimore, with research assistance from architecture students at Morgan State University. The exhibit is on view free to the public through August 26, 2020 during Open House hours every Wednesday from 1 to 7 pm, and on Sunday, August 9th from 11 am to 3 pm, or by appointment by contacting 410.879.4424 or info@liriodendron.com.

Danielia Cotton will be playing a free online concert for the Liriodendron Mansion as part of our Music at the Mansion concert series on Sunday, August 16 from 7 to 8 pm.
Danielia Cotton is a New York-based rock singer, songwriter and guitarist. The daughter of jazz vocalist, Wenonah Brooks and the niece of jazz vocalists Jeannie Brooks and Carol Brooks-Meyners, Danielia first picked up a guitar at age 12. She released her first full-length album, “Small White Town,” in 2005, and has followed that up with 7 releases. Known for her strong songwriting, guitar playing, and a voice often compared to the likes of Bonnie Raitt and Janis Joplin, Danielia has opened for such performers as Buddy Guy, Derek Trucks and Bon Jovi.

Music at the Mansion is excited to welcome Josh Christina to his first show at the Liriodendron Mansion! The concert will be held outdoors on our beautiful grounds, with plenty of room for social distancing!
Called a “mix between Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis Presley and Elton John”, Josh’s energetic brand of 50’s rock n roll makes the classics sound brand new. Josh Christina will restore your confidence in the ability of young musicians to carry on the great tradition of rock’s pioneers. Josh writes his own music, refurbishes the classics, and plays a mean piano. Josh Christina is a rock n roll revivalist whose music provides a bridge across generational lines by going backward to move into the future.
The piano aficionado can be heard on his two Nashville-recorded albums, “Good Old Love” and “I’m 21″, both produced by Kent Wells. His album “Instincts” was recorded at the historic Sam Phillips Recording Studio in Memphis, co-produced by two-time Grammy award winner Jon Carroll (Starland Vocal band.) He followed that up with the single ”Let’s Get Woke” in 2019, and has just released his latest single “Rockstar”.

Music at the Mansion is thrilled to have Arty Hill and the Long Gone Daddys play at the Liriodendron Mansion on Sunday, September 13 from 5 to 7 pm! The concert will be held outdoors on our beautiful grounds, with plenty of room for social distancing.
From Baltimore to Central Texas, Arty Hill packs the bars and dance floors with his unique brand of modern Honky Tonk. He sings with an “‘everyman’ quality…reminiscent of Johnny Cash.” (Vintage Guitar Magazine). His songs – marrying the soul of classic country with the wry storytelling of Guy Clark and Townes Van Zandt – have been recorded by the Grammy-nominated Kenny and Amanda Smith Band, Alt-Country pioneers Jason & the Scorchers, Rockabilly Queen Bee Marti Brom, and Austin’s Texas Sapphires, among others.
His recordings have topped the FAR (Freeform American Roots) chart, and his songs have appeared in two seasons of “Gun it with Bennie Spies” on the Sportsman Channel and in the 2017 movie “I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore” starring Elijah Wood. Arty is also co-founder of the Hank Williams Songwriting Workshop in Montgomery, AL, and was a 2018 instructor at the Augusta Heritage Center’s Classic Country Week in Elkins, WVa. His latest recording, “Live: Church on Saturday Night,” is a shack-shaking live recording of Arty and his top notch band, the Long Gone Daddys (Dave Chappell – guitar, Lynn Kasdorf – pedal steel, Ira Gitlin – upright bass, Ed Hough – drums).
